Simon Cowell gets emotional and sheds tears as this Performance reminds him of his Mother.

Simon Cowell Can’t Fight Back the Tears as this Performance Reminds Him of the Mother He Recently Lost

Simon Cowell is known for his tough exterior, but when an emotional tribute is set before him, his toughness turns to tears. Dance group, Attraction, wows the judges with their backlit performances. But, as much as their talent shines, their story shines brighter.

Having lost his mother, one group member, uses the performance to tell his story. The dance portrays his life with his mother – showing milestones, travels, and the devastation of illness and loss. With images you have to see to believe, the dancers create stunning scenes through imaginative dance moves.

All four judges rise to their feet at the conclusion of the dance that brought even Simon to tears. It was an emotional tribute for all who watched, and for the group member who dedicated the dance to his mother.

There is something unique about the bond between mother and child. As with the dance from Attraction, the theme of mother-child love infiltrates all aspects of society. The famous marble sculpture, the Madonna of Bruges, by Michelangelo is one of the most well known pieces of art in history. It is heralded for its capture of the tenderness between Mary and her son, the Christ child.

Chosen by God for her humility and devotion to bear the Messiah, Mary was indeed a special and blessed servant of God. We can see this in her limited interactions with Jesus, captured in the pages of the Bible. What a unique and special that relationship the two shared!! We see Mary’s wisdom and care in three recordings of Jesus’ early life.

Dr. Tabor shares three passages that show the INCREDIBLE bond between Mary and Jesus.

Jesus’ birth: Luke 2:18-19: And all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart.

Jesus’ teaching in in the temple: Luke 2:48-49: When His parents saw Him, they were astonished. “Child, why have You done this to us?” His mother asked. “Your father and I have been anxiously searching for You.” “Why were you looking for Me?” He asked, “Did you not know that I had to be in My Father’s house?” But they did not understand the statement He was making to them. Then He went down to Nazareth with them and was subject to them. But His mother treasured up all these things in her heart.

Jesus’ first miracle: John 2:1-5: On the third day a wedding took place at Cana in Galilee. Jesus’ mother was there, and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding. When the wine was gone, Jesus’ mother said to him, “They have no more wine.” “Woman (a term of endearment in the original language), why do you involve me?” Jesus replied. “My hour has not yet come.” His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.”

Mary had treasured “all these things” – the things of God – in her heart. She recognized that Jesus was not only her son, but also the Savior of the world. She knew Jesus had mastery over all things – including nature – and that He is the great miracle-worker. After all, Mary had seen such a miracle first-hand when found she was with child by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Jesus loved and cared for his mother. At his death on the cross, he ensured that Mary would be taken care of by his disciple John. Even in agony, Jesus cared for his mother, as she had cared for him all the years before.

The devoted relationship began when Mary became a willing servant of God and treasured the things of God in her heart. Mary believed. Do you believe?
