She kept hearing whispers…she looked under her bed and what she found was terrifying!Jesus Daily
God shielded this family for 3 days from what might have been a catastrophe!
Almost every person, at some point in his or her life, has thought about whether there might be a monster hiding under his or her bed. For one New Jersey resident, this was no mere childhood fantasy; it was a terrifying reality. After hearing a suspicious noise coming from the spare bedroom, this woman decided to investigate, and you will NEVER believe what she found!
How terrifying would it be if you heard a noise, looked under you bed, and found yourself staring into the eyes of an intruder? The mere thought of such an encounter sends chills down my spine! What would you do? Would you flee to a neighbor’s house? Would you call the police? Would you pray…for the intruder?
Before you proclaim, “Of course not! He was an intruder!” consider this… While you were watching this video, you likely feared for the safety of the homeowner or perhaps let out a sigh of relief when you discovered the man had been arrested without incident. However, at any point did you consider why the intruder decided to live under a bed for three whole days? Was he homeless? Was he fleeing the harsh New Jersey winter? Is he mentally ill? Perhaps he is none of these things or perhaps he is all of these things. The point is that he is a human being, instilled with the image of God, and if we are to take the words of Jesus in Matthew 5:44 seriously then we have an obligation to pray for him. While justice and personal safety are important aspects of our lives, we should never forget that God’s love extends to every man, woman, and child: especially the downtrodden. Therefore, let us never withhold our prayers from those who seek to do us wrong.
Dr. Tabor’s Three Lessons on Prayer
Pray, and pray often. God can often feel distant, but he only feels distant. We reconnect with God in much of the same ways we might reconnect with an old friend; we reach out to the friend and catch up on lost time. Talk to God; He cannot wait to hear from you!
Never Withhold Prayer. Matthew 5:44 reads, “But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.” While many render good for good, Jesus teaches us to render good for evil. Being kind only to people who are kind to you does not make you a kind person. Loving only those who love you does not make you a loving person. The true test of one’s character is how one treats one’s enemies.
Pray Together. Do not let the dinner table have a monopoly on your prayer time! When was the last time you prayed together with your friends, coworkers, or family? Next time you are together with a group, ask if you can lead a quick prayer session. Let us know how it went!
