Selena Gomez is asked if she is a Christian….THIS IS WHAT SHE SAID…..Jesus Daily
Texas-born-and-raised Selena Gomez made her debut as a youngster on the children’s series Barney & Friends. She really gained a following, however, when she joined the cast of Disney’s Waverly Place, playing the lead role. Since that time, Selena has become a top recording artist with a large fan base.
As she discusses her latest movie, she opens up about the overarching themes of family and embracing people for who they are. Selena says she likes to focus on the positive, and even when there are critics, she says she understands that not everyone feels like she feels. When asked about faith, Selena discusses her beliefs. WATCH what she says!
Selena is open about her faith and her love of worship music. In fact, in early 2016, Selena led worship for the first time at a Young & Free Revival concert. She also wrote and released her very first worship song, “Nobody.” The opening line of the chorus says, “Nobody’s gonna love me like you.”
While some might think the words are about a romantic love, Selena shared that the song is about a different kind of love – the love of God.
Selena was good friends with Christina Grimmie, a singer and third-place finalist on The Voice, who was shot and killed by a fan after an Orlando concert on June 10, 2016. Selena’s father was Christina’s manager. On June 12, 2016, a tearful Selena dedicated “Nobody,” along with the Hillsong song, “Transfiguration,” to her friend.
Worship music plays an important role in the faith of Christians. And it’s no wonder. The Bible is full of worship songs, verses and stories of people praising God.
Learn three reasons why we worship from Dr. Tabor
We worship God because He is holy. Worship helps us to remember who God is to us. Psalm 29:2: “Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness. God is holy and worthy of our worship.”
We worship God because we are His. Worship helps us remember who we are to God. Psalm 95:5-7: “Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker; for he is our God and we are the people of his pasture the flock under his care.”
We worship because that is our future. Worship is the activity of heaven. Revelation 4:11: “ … and night they do not cease to say, “HOLY, HOLY, HOLY is THE LORD GOD, THE ALMIGHTY, WHO WAS AND WHO IS AND WHO IS TO COME.”
Selena cares deeply about her faith, her family, worship and the world in which we live.
